Ginjinha was a dark red, sour cherry liqueur originating in the 17th century from the region of Obidos, Portugal.
Walking through the walled city of Obidos, we found Ginjinha offered in little chocolate cups from the windows of many liqueur houses. Ricci and Phil sampled one from Don Ramiro. They were not exactly sure what to do: eat the chocolate cup with the liqueur still in it, or drink the liqueur then eat the chocolate cup? They opted to do the second.
Soon after Ricci and Amy walked ahead, Phil came upon Ginja Mariquinhas, the famous traditional family liqueur house, and had to try from the best.
RECOMMENDATIONS: Having tried ginjinha from both places, Phil thought they were both about the same.
